Mastering Guitar is not something difficult to do. You too can learn to play lead guitar, however there are some things that you need to know and some traits you need to possess, tohelp you get better, faster.
These are the things you need to know.
Learn Your Scales.
So you might already be familiar with many ofthe basic chords and can play progressions with ease. But you might have a problem withyour solos, because when it comes to those lead guitar solos, you find yourself in a dead end and unable to find the right notes to pick.
What you need to do is improve your mastery of guitar scales, be able to visualize the fretboard and see the different scales for the different chords, and be able to crank out guitar solos on the fly and easily improvise.
The bestadvise that I found which I would like to share with you is this… the first step to playing lead guitar is to first master the major scale. While others recommend learning the pentatonic scales probably because of thefewer notes to take note of, it is best to master and familiarize yourself with the seven notes that make up a major scale, and be able to apply them at different parts of the guitar neck for various chords.

Learn To Read Guitar Tablature.
Guitar tabs are going to be very helpful for those who want to learn lead guitar, they not only help you read tab and allow you to learn other people’s guitar solos on published guitar tab sources, but this also allows you to write and structure your own solos in a manner that you do not forget. This way you are able to now to put your solos on paper.
PickThe Right Guitar Lessons.
The internet is a vast body of information, and if you were to go to a search engines and type in “guitar lessons”, you can be overwhelmed and even confused with the over 4 millions resulting pages. Which one of these can you use? Which one of these actually deliver results? Which one of these several guitar lessons online will actually help you play lead guitar better? Go with that which you are absolutely comfortable with.
So for you to get better at lead guitar playing, you need to master scales, you need to know how to read guitar tablature, and you need to be able to learn the right way and get good guitar lessons.
All of that will actually not mean anything if you do not have one important personal trait which will decide whether you will get to be a better player or not, and that trait is discipline.
By discipline, I mean your being able to start and keep to a learning and practice routine that you will be sure to follow. You will not get better if you only practice when you feel like it, and when you start getting lazy or when your fingers start to hurt you easily quit. You need to keep on practicing and playing the guitar to get better, even in times of frustration when you can’t seem to get a lick, a riff or a guitar solo right. The truth is, many of the guitar virtuosos spend countless hours practicing. They never got to be that good by telling themselves, “I don’t feel like practicing today, I’ll do it tomorrow”. They put in long hours in order to improve their abilities.
On that note, if you want to get better as a lead guitar player it is time you started doing the work and putting the ideas you found on this post, to use. Don’t forget to stick with your choses Lead Guitar Lessons and stick with it. Good luck!
