I would like to start my daily posts with a review of a website that I really enjoy. Jamendo is a community website that brings artists and fans close to each other. The currently host more than 2200 albums with more than 20000 tracks, all neatly categorized with tags for easy access. Every song can be listened to, commented on, and downloaded by either bittorrent or emule. Artists websites are linked from the album, song and main pages and often contain ways to purchase the music if you like it.
I use one of their plugins for blogs to add a album of the day to my site here at drm alternatives. The music is drm free and can be downloaded in mp3 (200 Kbps) and ogg (300 Kbps) format. I already have a nice collection of music albums from talented artists like tryad (electronica) and black era (triphop) and will use some of the ad revenue generated here at my site to support those artists.

My name is Martin and I have created this blog because I have decided that I do not want to support the music industry until they make the decision to remove copy protection, DRM and every other means of protection that they have added to their media. I discovered a different way of media distribution which is based on trust and appreciation and not on profit maximization, a way that brings artists and fans closer to each other.
Would not it be nice to be able to hear, download, copy, spread music before you decided whether to buy the CD ? I think this is one of the major differences to buying mainstream music from major record labels. When I purchase music from an artist whose music I already downloaded and listened to I make a deliberate choice to reward him, and only him, for the excellent music and for his trust.
